Interview Process FAQs
From application review through final interviews, learn what to expect throughout Choate’s hiring process.
Do you use AI or bots to screen applications?
No. Every application is reviewed by a Choate employee-owner. We believe in taking the time to personally evaluate each candidate rather than relying on automated screening tools.
What does your interview process look like?
Our process typically includes an initial virtual call with a member of our recruiting team, followed by a behavioral assessment, then 2–3 interviews with the hiring team. From there, we move to an offer and onboarding.
What is the behavioral assessment used for?
Our behavioral assessment is not used to decide whether you are a fit for the role. Instead, it helps us tailor interview questions to better understand your strengths, working style, and experiences. This helps make the conversation more meaningful and relevant to you!
How long does your hiring process take?
We aim to move efficiently while being thoughtful. For most positions, the process can take up to two weeks, depending on scheduling.
Why does the process include multiple interviews?
We are intentional about who we bring on board as future employee-owners. Multiple conversations ensure a strong, mutual fit, from technical skills to culture.
Are you working to streamline the process?
Yes! We’re always looking for ways to improve and make the process as smooth as possible while still maintaining the level of care and attention we believe every candidate deserves.
Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes. If more than one role fits your experience and interests, you are welcome to apply. Our recruiting team will review your background and help determine where there may be the best fit.
Does Choate hire veterans or military professionals?
Absolutely! Veterans bring leadership, discipline, problem-solving skills, and team-first experience that translate well to construction. Choate Veterans, one of our Employee Resource Groups, also helps create connection and support across the company.
Do I need construction experience to work at Choate?
It depends on the role. Some positions require specific construction experience, while others are open to people with transferable skills, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. If you are interested in building a career here, we encourage you to explore where your experience may fit.
